This was the final 30th Anniversary celebration gig at The Fillmore in San Francisco.

This was only the third time that the full version of Orion was played in the US.

This was the second time that Through the Never was played in the US since 1993.

After 1987, Ride the Lightning was not performed again for 16 years. It was brought back into the setlist on May 18, 2003 at The Fillmore.

The God That Failed was last played in Northern California on November 28, 2004. This was only the sixth performance of the song since that date.

Did you know that Welcome Home (Sanitarium) has been played over 850 times?

This was the public debut of Rebel of Babylon off of the Beyond Magnetic EP. You can download the studio recording of Rebel of Babylon on iTunes.

The bride and groom who had a viral YouTube hit with their wedding performance of Master of Puppets joined the band on Blackened.

Bob Rock joined the band for a pair of tunes off of St. Anger.

This was the first time in seven years that Dirty Window was played live. It was last performed on November 20, 2004.

This was the first time in three years that Frantic was played live. It was last performed on October 21, 2008.

Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath joined the boys for a cover of Sabbra Cadabra. This was the first time in 13 years that Sabbra Cadabra was performed live.

OZZY! Ozzy joined Geezer and Metallica for Iron Man and Paranoid.

Jason Newsted returned for two more songs.

This was the first time in 11 years that Jason Newsted performed King Nothing with Metallica. He last played the song on August 9, 2000 in Lexington, KY.

Jason Newsted last played Whiplash with Metallica on July 20, 2000 in East Rutherford, NJ. He took over lead vocals on this performance at The Fillmore.

Hugh Tanner, who was in a number of bands with James during high school and the reason James and Lars met, joined the band for Motorbreath.

For the first time in 28 years, Dave Mustaine joined Metallica on stage to play songs that they had wrote together back in the day.

Dave Mustaine last performed Phantom Lord with Metallica on April 8, 1983 in Staten Island, NY.

Jump in the Fire was last played with Dave Mustaine on April 9, 1983 in Brooklyn, NY. That show happened to be Dave's last performance with Metallica.

March 5, 1983 - which happened to be Cliff Burton's first show with Metallica - was the last time that Dave Mustaine played Metal Militia with the boys.

For Hit the Lights, Metallica and Mustaine were joined by original bass player Ron McGovney and the man who played lead guitar on the first recording of the song, Lloyd Grant. This was Ron's first time on stage with Metallica since November 30, 1982. This was Lloyd's very first time on stage with Metallica.

Jason Newsted, Dave Mustaine, Lloyd Grant, Ron McGovney, Hugh Tanner, Mark Osegueda, and the Soul Rebels all joined Metallica for Seek and Destroy.

Metallica performed 21 songs off of the following releases: Kill 'Em All (7), Ride the Lightning (1), Master of Puppets (2), ...And Justice for All (1), The Black Album (2), Load (1), Garage Inc. (1), St. Anger (2), Beyond Magnetic (1) and two non-album tracks

This was the third of four 30th Anniversary celebration gigs at The Fillmore in San Francisco.

This was only the second time that Suicide & Redemption was performed live. It was debuted on July 27, 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Did you know that Master of Puppets has been played over 1,375 times?

This was the first time in over 22 years that ...And Justice for All was performed in the Bay Area. It's last Bay performance was on September 15, 1989 in Mountain View, CA.

This was the first time in over 12 years that Of Wolf & Man was performed in the Bay Area. It was last performed in NorCal on April 22, 1999 during the recording of S&M.

Fade to Black has been played over 1,000 times! It was debuted on February 9, 1985 in Chicago, IL.

The Thing That Should Not Be was only played 11 times during the course of the World Magnetic tour. Coincidentally, the last time Thingy was played in SF was on May 22, 2003 at... THE FILLMORE!

I Disappear was only played five times during the between 2008 and 2011. It was last performed in San Francisco on November 13, 2005 while opening for The Rolling Stones.

This was only the 13th performance of The Outlaw Torn. It's last US performance was on October 9, 2004 in Albany, NY.

This was the public debut of Hell and Back off of the Beyond Magnetic EP. You can download the studio recording of Hell and Back on iTunes.

The boys brought up a MetClubber named Joseph Guariglia for a great performance of Blitzkrieg.

Alice in Chains axeman Jerry Cantrell joined the band during For Whom the Bell Tolls.

Jerry also provided vocal harmonies during Nothing Else Matters.

There was not a safe goat in sight as Animal took to the stage for a razor sharp performance of the sweet, little Anti-Nowhere League ditty entitled SO WHAT! So What was last performed by Metallica on November 3, 2008 in Salt Lake City, UT.

This was only the fifth performance of Tuesday's Gone. It was last performed before an audience prior to the live taping of MTV's Reload, Rehearse, Request special on March 21, 1998. The boys were joined by Skynyrd's own Gary Rossington as well as COC/Down guitarist Pepper Keenan, Jim Martin of Faith No More fame, and Jerry Cantrell.

Headlights! Head on! Jason Newsted returned for the third night in a row, this time performing Fuel and Fight Fire With Fire.

The original Misfit himself, Glenn Danzig, joined the boys for a trio of Misfits songs. Glenn last performed with Metallica on July 3, 1993 in Tinley Park, IL.

ROB F'ING HALFORD!!! Metallica brought out the Metal God for a smoking rendition of the Priest classic Rapid Fire. Metallica last played Rapid Fire on August 21, 1994 in Miami, FL again with Halford on vocals.

Once again, Seek & Destroy featured guests galore including Jason Newsted, Jerry Cantrell, Pepper Keenan, Jim Martin, Glenn Danzig, Animal, Laaz Rockit, and the Soul Rebels Brass Band.

This was the first show performed in 2011 and the first U.S. gig featuring The Big 4.

It has been almost three years since the last large outdoor gig in the U.S. The last large outdoor concert was Ozzfest in August of 2008.

This was the first time that the band performed in Indio, CA at the Empire Polo Club.

While the first half of the song was performed at two shows in 2005, this was the first time that the full version of Orion was performed in the U.S.

Metallica brought out members of Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax to perform a cover of Diamond Head’s Am I Evil?. Dave Mustaine, Kerry King, Scott Ian, Rob Caggiano, Chris Broderick, David Ellefson, Frank Bello, Charlie Benante, Shawn Drover, Dave Lombardo, and Joey Belladonna all participated in the jam.

There were approximately 50,000 fans in attendance.

* This is the last show of the World Magnetic Tour.

* This was the twelfth time that Metallica performed in Melbourne.

* This was the fifth show performed in Melbourne in the last two months.

After a standout show on 12/29/97, the band gave a loose, funky performance on the second night of their three-night stand at Madison Square Garden. The band came out of the gates smoking on night three of a four-show holiday tour on December 30th with "Sneakin' Sally Thru The Alley" > "Taste". The nearly 3.5 hour marathon was capped by a playful, non-stop second set that highlighted a sublime "AC/DC Bag", rare "McGrupp And The Watchful Hosemasters" and a heavily-narrated "Harpua" which introduced elements of the New Year's Eve Udder Ball gag and Tom Marshall's mysterious appearance from Trey's past for Phish's first and only cover of The Proclaimer's "I Wanna Be (500 Miles)". An extended "Harry Hood" > "My Soul" and a deep, four-song encore of "Carini" > "Black-Eyed Katy" > a reprised "Sneakin' Sally" and "Frankenstein" completed a curfew-breaking second set so long that the band got to wish the audience an early happy new year. Paul Languedoc's 2-track soundboard mix mastered by Fred Kevorkian was sync'd to all the available video shot from the front-of-house position to create this latest LivePhish Video offering. 12/30/97 Madison Square Garden is an excellent example of just how fun a Phish Holiday show could be. Alone or as a necessary companion to the previous show, this is must-hear (and must-see) Phish from the archives. Enjoy!

On a hot June day in 2009 the David Grisman Quintet played the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee for the first time. The band was in top form (David had already jammed with the Del McCoury Band and the Tony Rice Unit) and the crowd was energized. The Bonnaroo video crew captured the excitement as it was happening. The Quintet played a wide variety of tunes including some of their classics including— “EMD” and “Dawg’s Rag” as well as tunes from the Garcia/Grisman songbook, “Grateful Dawg” and “Dawg’s Waltz” plus newer pieces like “Newly Wedding.” This is the first new Acoustic Oasis video release with more on the way.
