Show Notes
The fall of 1996 is a beloved period in the history of The Black Crowes and this show is a blissful demonstration of the essence of that period. On this night in Cleveland, the band effortlessly showcased a wide spectrum of their strengths. Reaching deep into the catalog, Cleveland features some rarely played gems, including a 'new' song, Name Like Music", which was written and recorded for, but ultimately left off Three Snakes And One Charm. This original song was only played 7 times. The month of October, 1996 was a busy one, with 22 shows in 31 days. Shows from this month are often lauded for their consistently brilliant performances and this show is a prime example. The band is on fire and playing with confidence, getting the best out of each and every song. The setlist is stacked with rarely played originals ("Name Like Music", "Title Song"), excellent cover songs (Dylan's "Girl From The North Country", Lonnie Young's "Chevrolet" and a brilliant take on Neil Young's recently-released anthem "Big Time") and extended 'warhorses' ("Thorn In My Pride", "Ballad In Urgency" -> "Wiser Time"). The rest of the setlist is comprised of mostly non-single album tracks, including Amorica's "She Gave Good Sunflower" and Three Snakes & One Charm's "Girl From A Pawnshop". An astonishingly intense performance of the rarely played "Title Song" provides the ultimate peak of this evening's proceedings - it is certainly one of the two or three finest performances of this song and simply must be heard. The month of October sure makes for some tough choices when it comes to selecting a show to listen to, but this is without a doubt a standout performance. [BAND ARCHIVE]

"Well from the review given by Crowesbase, listed above, I was expecting a little more from this show. Title Song is one of my all time favorites and I feel like the expectations were set really high with this one. In my opinion, the version off of Live is superior to this one, as well as 8/9/2005 San Francisco. That being said, its a great song and hard to be disappointed in any version. Overall I would give this show 4 out of 5 birds. It has great sound quality, great set list including a few rare ones, and really rocks. There is just a part of it that misses a ferocity needed to be 5 birds. But great show, and definitely a good one to choose out of the ones listed here (from looking at crowesbase there are other gems from this tour that need to be released from the fall tour!!)"
