"I was visiting a friend in Eureka and a day or so into my trip she says "hey, you know Jer is playing French Creek while you are here?". ??. huh? From the East Coast ( Spectrum was my home base, Harrisburg City Island 84 first show ) , I wasn't really familiar with this place, or how close we were to it, but I was all in! We had no car, but we convinced somebody's mother to rent one for us. No idea how we managed to do that and I couldn't tell you what make or model it was. We drove from Eureka to French's Camp which was in or around Piercy, CA. The car renting mom had directions printed out for us from her AAA membership. The drive was only about 75 miles or so I think, but it took us probably 3 plus after stopping at every cool redwood tree, missing turns and general 19 -20 year old adventurous hippie girl things. We decided it would be fine to park in a lot for a hotel up the road from the entrance to French's Camp. We had a magically delicious time, hot as blazes, got down with the mud people, made friends, lost each other , found each other, blissed out to Jerry and the magic that was made. Late, late in the dark heading back to the hotel where we parked the rental , so happy ?? for the experience, to find NO CAR! Yeah, it was towed. We ended up riding into Garberville in the tow truck drivers cab. The three of us, tow guy and the hippie girls just bouncing along into town. We were trying not to laugh during the ride. He gave us advice about not parking where you shouldn't park. $200 and we were on our way again."
