Festivus themed. The setlist was determined by randomly selecting cards out of a bucket. The cards either contained a grievance relating to a song (which the band would then play) OR feats of strength (which would dictate an arm wrestle between two band members).

Thanks to all who came to our first annual festivus celebration. Let’s make it an annual event shall we?

Playing in a touring band, you spend most of your time in a cramped van with 5 stinky companions. Very much akin to a sibling relationship, these guys who you’ve opted to call your bandmates (and Sam) will inevitably come to annoy you in some profound way. It’s perfectly natural given the close quarters and tight schedules. Passive aggressiveness is not an option as you rely on the team for the cathartic ritual of an epic rock show that makes the whole trek worth it. With that in mind, a festivus party in our hometown of cville seemed like the perfect way for us to air our grievances and cap off a successful 2023.

The premise was simple. The band would randomly draw song related grievances from a rondeau in the middle of the stage and that would determine the setlist for the night. Mixed into the bucket were all 9 permutations of 2 band members that could compete in an arm wrestling match, while the rest of the band played Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man.” Thanks to Tim the Gardener from Sidetracks music for lending us 2 plain aluminum poles. Thanks to Sam for cueing the walk on Seinfeld theme song. Thanks to Slim, Ross, Josh and all the Jefferson staff. And praise be to festivus, a holiday for the rest of us.
