Show Notes

“Thank you, good evening,” says Adrian Belew to the crowd in Copenhagen, after Level Five. “Happy Fathers’ Day to all of you fathers. Happy Mothers’ Day to all of you mothers who have to put up with your fathers.”

It’s not really until Facts Of Life that the band sounds like they’re firing on all cylinders and it really revs up with that Fripp solo. Somewhat recharged ProzaKc Blues stomps along and a rollercoastering Happy prompts Adrian to quip, “I’m happy with that.”

Somewhat unhappily, however, LTIA IV is incomplete here, missing the last few bars of the coda but otherwise sounding as fearsome as it should with a recklessly oscillating solo from Belew.

Similarly, Elephant Talk is tragically truncated, here fading in time for the first verse. However, fans of the '80s material will be comforted to note that an intact Frame By Frame makes its first appearance on this leg of the tour.

It’s worth pointing out that the soundscape that opens the concert is truly remarkable, one that really builds up in intensity as wave upon wave gradually accrues, melding together into something very powerful indeed.
