Red is, in some respects, the most “re-imagined” of all the vintage KC pieces since the return to active service in 2014. The rhythmic contrasts between the front and back lines within the band couldn’t be starker as they bulldoze their respective ways through the main sections. On this outing, all parts of Crimson machinery run smoothly as they alternately accelerate and brake through the piece, with the retooled guitar parts and additional brass heightening the excitement.
